I noticed this handsome fella lying on a table in the shade at The Little Painted Desert county park.
We were the only two in the whole place.
Clearly either abandoned or lost.
I set out a bowl of water and stepped back into the car.
He came over, drank it all, and then picked the bowl up in his mouth and took it back to his spot in the shade.
I put out another bowl of water and gave him a few protein bars (all I had).
He chowed them down.
I can’t fit a dog in my car, or in my life right now.
I was sad to leave.
In another life he could have been mine.
We would have been happy together.
If you do it to the least of these . . .
